“Shreya Ghoshal’s soulful voice breathed life into my words”, says ace lyricist Dr Sagar on World Music Day

Mumbai : World Music Day, celebrated on the 21st of June each year, unites music lovers worldwide in a celebration of the universal language of melodies. Dr. Sagar’s journey from his first collaboration with Shreya Ghoshal to his present-day accomplishments exemplifies the extraordinary impact that music can have on an artist’s life.

For any artist, the first opportunity to showcase their talent is often an unforgettable experience. Dr. Sagar, an acclaimed Bollywood lyricist today, recalls the euphoria he felt when his words found a voice in Shreya Ghoshal’s mellifluous rendition.

The magical fusion of his lyrics and Shreya’s captivating vocals turned out to be a momentous milestone in his musical journey. He takes us back to the year 2011 when his first-ever song as a lyricist was beautifully rendered by the legendary Shreya Ghoshal, and graced the silver screen in the film “Yeh Stupid Pyaar.”

Reflecting on his collaboration with Shreya Ghoshal, Dr. Sagar recollects the moment he says, “Looking back to the days when my first ever film Yeh Stupid Pyaar was released and I had penned down beautiful lyrics for it but the song went way more beyond when Shreya Ji has sung the song for me and I feel that Shreya’s soulful voice breathed life into my words, elevating them to new heights of emotional depth. It was a testament to the power of music to touch hearts and evoke profound emotions through her voice and my lyrics”.

Talking more about the journey, he says, “Music has always been my first love and I always had a immense love for writing Poems and songs but personally, the journey hasn’t been a cake walk, there have been numerous challenges that I had to face as a lyricist on how, when can make a song a biggest hit, but due to my JNU training and support from Bollywood personalities, I have had the opportunity to be where I am today.”

For the uninitiated, Dr. Sagar has penned songs for films like Music School, Maharani Season 2, Afwaah, Bheed, and many more. Dr. Sagar has also worked in the industry with ace directors like, Sudhir Mishra, Anubhav Sinha, Subhash Kapoor, Neeraj Panday, Illayaraja, and Salim Suleman, and many singers from the tinsel town have given their voices to Dr. Sagar’s music to which includes, Arjit Singh, Jubin Nautiyal, Raha Fateh Ali Khan, Atif Aslam, Javedh Ali, Sunidhi Chauhan, Shreya Ghoshal, Kailash Kher, Udit Narayan, Kumar Sanu, Sadhna Sargam, Suresh Wadekar. And we can definitely say that his music has not only entertained but also left a lasting impact on listeners.
