JC Bose University introduced Digital Interactive Boards to make teaching more interactive

Faridabad News, 15 January 2020 : Gone are the days when classroom teaching was restricted to conventional whiteboards. Now in the era of digitalization, digital classroom are changing the face of traditional classroom. In this direction, J.C. Bose University of Science and Technology, YMCA, Faridabad has taken yet another initiative by way of introducing Digital Interactive Boards in the classrooms to make learning-teaching process more interactive.

The University has set-up 13 digital classrooms equipped with Digital Interactive Boards in various departments which will take the place of conventional whiteboards being used for teaching. Thus, the University has become first in the State to introduce digital interactive boards.

Vice Chancellor Prof. Dinesh Kumar formally inaugurated the digital classrooms equipped with LED IR touch Digital Interactive Boards. Registrar Dr. S.K. Garg, Deans and Chairpersons of all departments and senior officials of the University were also present on this occasion. A training-cum-demonstration session on the use of these digital interactive boards was also conducted on this occasion.

These digital interactive boards have been provided by National Project Implementation Unit (NPIU) under Ministry of Human Resource Development to the University as participating institution under TEQIP-III. NPIU is providing infrastructural facilities to TEQIP-II and TEQIP-III participating institutions of the country to promote flipped or blended learning through digital pedagogy in technical education.

The Digital India Cell of the University was given the responsibility to submit such proposal to NPIU for setup of Digital Classrooms in the University. The University is the only state university that has been selected through a challenge method based on the predefined criteria covering digital initiatives undertaken by the university and the NBA accreditation status in the university.

Vice Chancellor Prof. Dinesh Kumar expressed pleasure over the initiative taken by the University and urged faculty members to utilize the flipped and blended teaching methods during the class. Speaking on this occasion, he said that digital classrooms have been creating a revolution in the educational sector. Embedded with modern day technologies, such interactive classrooms offer a friendly environment to the students where they can clear all their concepts.

TEQIP Director, Prof. Vikram Singh apprised that the fund for Digital Classrooms is over and above the present allocation to the University by NPIU and the university is the only TEQIP institution in the state of Haryana besides Centrally Funds Technical Institutions which is selected by NPIU based on its performance benchmarks.

Nodal Officer, Digital India Dr. Neelam Duhan said that this initiative will not only change the perspective of students towards studying but will also help the teachers in preparing dynamic multi-media lessons which can be interesting for students. She also said that University itself has taken many digital initiatives earlier also in this direction in the form of MOOCs, adoption of Digi-lockers, NAD and Digital Notice Boards.
