Faridabad News, 17 July 2020 : As the pandemic drives us physically apart, technology is bringing us together. The Covid – 19 has caused a mass shift to the internet and online education platforms. And the survivors are the ones who have quickly adapted to. As DAVIM is known for its quick and timely delivery in any kind of circumstance, it continues to do so in the time of social distance as well. It has undertaken a highly innovative method of doing so and the result is the organization of a National E-Panel Discussion Series on “UNLOCKING HIGHER EDUCATION : DIGITAL TRANSFORMATION” from July 16 – 18, 2020.

The theme for Day 2, i.e, July 17, 2020 was “DIGITAL

TRANSFORMATION OF HIGHER EDUCATION : CHALLENGES & OPPORTUNITIES”. After the initial deliberations of the session by Dr. Parul Nagi(Dean Cultural Committee) who gave glimpse of DAVIM and welcomed the reputed panelists of the day, the message of the Chief Patron, Padmashree Shri Punam Suri, President DAVCMC was read by Shri. Shiv Raman Gaur, Director Higher Education, DAVCMC and Patron of the E- Panel Series in which he congratulated and appreciated that institute is carrying forward the legacy of DAV College Managing Committee by supporting society and government both in making policies for the education industry as well as for academic fraternity and that he has a hope and believe that the results of this Panel discussion will bring out finest opportunities for higher education institutions, academic leaders, academicians, professionals and researchers of various disciplines from all over the India to share and express their views, discuss the practical challenges encountered and the solutions. Shri. Shiv Raman Gaur also appreciated yesterday’s event and said that today’s theme of digitalization will impart knowledge about the challenges and opportunities we will come across in this situation. Dr. Sanjeev Sharma, Principal Director, DAVIM welcomed all the panelist of the day and thanked them for being part of this event. He also congratulated the organizers of the event Dr. Ritu Gandhi Arora, Dean- FDP Cell, Dr. SunitaBishnoi- Dean- Reasearch Promotion Cell, Dr. Pooja Kaul- Dean- Innovation Cell, Dr. AshimaTandon- Dean E-content and LMS Cell for coming up with this unique idea of holding E- panel Discussion. Dr. Pooja Kaul, Dean- Innovation Cell initiated the session with explaining the theme of the day two and mentioned that for successful unlocking of Higher Education, digital transformation is the need of the hour.

The Guest of Honour Dr. N.K. Uberoi, Vice President DAVCMC shared his views on importance of faculty development, freedom, utopia and learning. The Chief Guest of the day, Dr. Viney Kapur Mehra, Vice Chancellor – Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, National Law Univ., Rai, Haryana accentuated the new dimensions of creativity for students. Ms. Kanika Duggal (Asst. Professor), Moderator of the event introduced all the panelist of the day to the participants. The eminent speakers of the day were Prof. R.S. Bawa, Pro Chancellor – Chandigarh University, Prof. Rajender K. Anayath, Vice Chancellor – DCRUST, Murthal, Haryana, Prof Arun Kumar, Chair Person – Dept. of Hydro &Renewable Energy, MNRE, IIT Roorkee, Prof. G.S. Brar, Assistant Director Higher Education, Dept. Govt. of Punjab, Prof. Tejinder Sharma, Department of Commerce, KUK, Kurukshetra and Prof. Ashwani Bhalla, SCD Govt. College , Ludhiana &President PCMA Ludhiana, Punjab.

Dr. R. S. Bawa emphasised on Technology, Innovation and Flexibility. Also, he mentioned that the concentrated effort of all the sections of the society is required and training of teachers and students is the demand of the time. Dr. G.S. Brar, showed his concern for govt. sectors who are not competent with technology and said that Covid -19 is a good opportunity to upgrade the system. Dr. Rajender K. Anayath threw light on digitalized post Covid-19 scenario and urged to learn digital technology. In his words, “Teacher robot will prepare the questions and evaluate. Research papers will be published by robots”. Dr. Tejinder Sharma focused on the need to enable and empower both faculty and students in the tough times such as this. Prof. Arun Kumar focused on the need of revolution in content development and suggested to use moodle as it contains many features to evaluate the students’performance.

Dr. Neelam Gulati, Dean Academics – DAVIM, foregrounded the key points of Day 2’s discussion and concluded the session by extending polite vote of thanks.
