Faridabad News, 04 feb 2019 : A unique fashion show welcomed a fully packed ‘Chaupal’ last evening. This fashion show was a scintillating display of Haryana’s traditional dresses with a modern twist. The models sashayed on the ramp wearing cultural dresses from various parts of Haryana. From age old costumes to modern renditions, the fashion show won the hearts of all the spectators present there as they cheered and applauded throughout the show.

The interesting thing is that cultural participants  volunteered as models and even officers of Haryana Tourism enthusiastically took to the ramp in their most stylish avatars. Dresses like dhoti, kurta, traditional Pagri and props like Hukka made Haryana come alive on the stage. Young models in modern version of cultural dresses set new trends for many to follow. The women folk mesmerized the audience with fascinating threads and weaves of Haryana as they showcased the best of what the state has to offer. The fashion show highlighted various dresses which are identified with the state of Haryana like colourful duppattas, Dhoti- kurta, Shalwar, Jamphar, Gaati, Ghaghra, Ghaghri, Khara, Lehnga, Chundri, Wayal, Dupatta, Garkhi, Kamri, Stole, Leh and Chayema. It was fashion and tradition coming together for a grand show.

Participants from Thailand and African nations like Uganda gave a new flavour to the fashion as they walked the ramp in Haryanvi dresses fused with their native traditional wear. What transpired was an elated audience and ovation from every corner of the amphitheater as these international models took to the ramp.

Haryana further enchanted the audience with cultural performance which followed the fashion show. Participants from various schools and colleges of Haryana presented folk dance and folk music of the state. Dressed in colourful traditional Attires, the talent of these students kept the audience glued to the seats till the end.

Hon’ble justice Vineet Sharan, Supreme Court has also scheduled his visit to this vibrant Mela today.

Rangoli competition was held at the Designers gallery, where 161 school children from far and wide participated and showcased their exceptional talent and the judges had a tough time deciding the winners.

The result of the Rangoli competition is as follows:

 First – Modern B.P. Public School, Sector 23, Faridabad

Second- Savitri Polytechnic, A-8, Nehru Ground, NIT, Faridabad

Third – (i) Arya Vidya Mandir, Senior Secondary School, Ballabhgarh

(ii)  KL Mehta Dayanand College for Women, NIT-3, Faridabad

Consolation – Government Model Senior Secondary School, Uncha Gaon, Ballabhgarh.

The evening cultural performance is all geared up to enthrall the audience with art forms of Thailand. Talented artists from the land of smiles will get together for a vibrant and thrilling presentation of their folk art, songs and dances. For those who want to soak in a culture and art, this is the best place to be.
